I'm alive!!!... after 3 intense months at school. And somethings to show for it, to share with my favourite artists...

I don't have a clue where all this is going - besides my living room - but I can't get enough of that scrappy wood stuff.

I look forward to re-joining humanity before I return to class on Jan. 5.

William Lake

Just had my biggest show ever...30 pieces in an art gallery situation.....one room and just my work...I must admit it felt fabulous! I got interviewed by 3 papers...two local Williams Lake and one international German paper. This is the last stop for "Rust to Religion" and it is good and bad...thinking about what to do next with the show...looking forward to the conversation with Dori, Lisa, Sharon and myself about marketing, "what next?", and how do you make it as an artist...talks...anyone else interested...a few photos of my time in the Chilcotin...Valencia

Travels

Well gals just got back from Chicago and I highly recommend it...they have more public art and I am saying giant like Alexander Calders! than any city I have been in. The Institute of Chicago, Contemporary Art Gallery and the Cultural Centre have great shows and beautiful buildings....old and new. They are so proud of their buildings they have several architectural tour river trips to choose from and a Frank Llloyd Wright bike tour. Lots of music and live theatre as well. I am thinking of a trip next fall which would be 5 days in Chicago and then a week in New York! Anyone interested?

Some of the Laroux's attended the PNE....Mira, Lisa, Dori and Valerie. We also had Arnt and Dustin in tow. Lot's of shows attended...pig race was a favorite with Superdogs a close second...with the evening coming to an end listening to the three Elvis's and a walk through the midway.....here are a few photos.

Slow-Poke LaRoux has finally arrived

Ok...first off I think my name should definitely (oh no...no spell check...) be Slow-Poke LaRoux...yes its true I have just spent a glourious last hour reading and looking through our most wonderful blog...(ummmm for the first time) but as they say better late than never. It looks wonderful ladies, thank you!

I have had a great last few weeks. Hillside was the solid and inspiring foundation to it all. The sunday afer we got back I had a fantastic day at the studio. Creativity just spilling out. As were the fond memories out our week together.
Since then I have had few glorious visitors (ol' friends ) and a trip to Hornby for a little bit of paradise and time with the bro. Wonderful!

Val-encia....sooooo excited to hear about your piece selling and your invitation to join the Halifax/Ottawa show. You go girl!

Springy - LaRoux...do explain....rug hooking a logging truck? I am very much intrigued....

This is so much fun!
Can't wait to see you all soon, and as soon as I figure out how to post pics....I have a few for the crowd....

Haida Gwaii

Back from Haida Gwaii with lots of stories...from Butoh on the beach by Kokoro Dancers.. Jay and Barbara to walks through the forest (I understand Emily Carr a bit better now), shipwrecks, abandoned cabins, fishing in ocean and river (28 fish..salmon and halibut on the way home for all 7 fishermen), artists painting and drawing, cute cabins to stay in, artists galleries and visiting artists homes...Amy Edgars, Shaun Edgars, Redgie Davidson, etc.. welcoming us with all our questions, rock and agate collecting, kayaking, museums, hot tubs, crabbing, learning about the history and culture and lots of photos! More to follow....
